An hour before your guests arrive, the Sub-Zero starts blinking a temperature it shouldn't. The wine fridge under the counter is warm to the touch, the ice bin is half slush, and you're standing in a Hyde Park kitchen wondering who you can possibly get out here tonight — because the last company put you on a two-week waitlist for a "certified specialist."

Take a breath. In South Tampa, this is the call we build our schedule around. Built-in and premium refrigeration is our core specialty — not a sideline — and a blinking Sub-Zero is usually a fixable problem: restricted airflow inside the cabinet, a sensor that drifted after years of humidity, a defrost cycle that fell behind. The owner answers the phone himself. Call before 2 PM, and we're at your door the same day in most of South Tampa, and it works exactly the same way if your kitchen runs a Whirlpool instead of a Wolf.

The rest of what we do is less dramatic and just as necessary. Perfect Appliance Repair Tampa is a local appliance repair company, not a franchise desk that forwards your address to whoever happens to be free. The same repair technicians handle refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens and microwaves, so one appliance repair service call can cover two household appliances on a single diagnostic. Licensed, insured, EPA-certified.

Who's showing up at your door

Mark is the owner of Perfect Appliance Repair Tampa, with 20-plus years of hands-on technical experience. He answers the phone, he shows up when he says he will, and he tells you the truth — even when the honest answer is replace, not repair. South Tampa is our backyard: we've worked on refrigerators in Hyde Park, Davis Islands, Palma Ceia, Beach Park, and every neighborhood in between, and a lot of those customers have become people we know by name. That's what happens when you do honest work in the same community for a long time.

The short version of how we operate:

  • Same-day service in most of South Tampa when you call before 2 PM. Call after 2 and you pick your bonus for tomorrow: $30 off the repair, or a free refrigerator-rated surge protector installed with it.
  • $69 diagnostic, applied in full to the repair you approve. If the unit can't be reasonably repaired, you pay nothing at all.
  • 90-day labor warranty on every standard repair. 12-month parts and labor warranty on Sub-Zero and premium built-in work.
  • OEM parts whenever available, common parts stocked on the truck, no zone fees anywhere from Davis Islands to Port Tampa.
  • A family business built on Christian values — honesty, hard work, and treating your kitchen the way we treat our own.
SOUTH TAMPA, STREET BY STREET

Appliance repair in your South Tampa neighborhood

Ten corridors, from Kennedy Boulevard down the Interbay Peninsula to MacDill. The failure patterns sort themselves by neighborhood down here — the age of the housing, the equipment that went into it, and how close the salt air gets. Tap the one you live in.

Hyde Park — 33606

Bayshore Blvd · Swann Ave · Howard Ave

The oldest money and the oldest kitchens. Bungalows and 1920s cabinet runs with a modern built-in wedged into an opening cut a century ago, so clearance is tight and condenser access is most of the job. It is also where we open more Sub-Zero doors than on any other street in Tampa Bay — BI-series columns and over-and-unders, plus a fair number of legacy 600-series units still worth keeping.

Sub-Zero and built-in repair →

SoHo — 33606

S Howard Ave · Swann Ave · Platt St

Townhomes, condos and the small kitchens behind the restaurants along Howard. Counter-depth French doors, under-counter beverage units and ice makers that get asked to keep up with a lot more entertaining than the manufacturer had in mind. Ice and water faults are the standing call here.

Ice maker repair →

Davis Islands — 33606

Davis Blvd · Severn Ave

Waterfront, and the salt air behind it is not a talking point — it gets into condenser fins and electrical connectors and shortens the life of both. Coil cleaning matters more here than anywhere else on the peninsula. Access is the other half: narrow streets, tight garages, and a bridge that decides how long the drive takes.

Refrigerator repair →

Beach Park — 33609

West Shore Blvd · Swann Ave · Kennedy Blvd

Large kitchens, integrated panel-ready refrigeration and second units in the butler pantry or the garage. Thermador, Monogram and Miele show up here as often as Sub-Zero. A garage refrigerator in a Tampa August is doing close to commercial duty, and it fails like one.

Freezer repair →

Palma Ceia — 33629

MacDill Ave · Bay to Bay Blvd · Dale Mabry Hwy

The heart of the 33629 renovation belt. Wolf and Thermador ranges, wall ovens in cabinetry, wine storage beside the main refrigerator. Range and oven work is heavier here than the bay-area average — igniters, control boards, door glass and hinges on equipment nobody wants to replace.

Oven and range repair →

Virginia Park — 33629

Bay to Bay Blvd · Himes Ave · Manhattan Ave

Family houses working hard. Washers running four loads on a Saturday, a refrigerator door opening fifty times a day, a dryer vent nobody has looked at since the house changed hands. Wear items go first here and they are the cheap ones — drain pumps, lid switches, heating elements, gaskets that stopped sealing.

Washer repair →

Bayshore Beautiful — 33611 · 33629

Bayshore Blvd · MacDill Ave

Along the water on one side and into established streets on the other, which means both halves of the job: premium built-ins facing the bay and solid twenty-year-old Whirlpool and GE a block inland. We carry legacy parts for the second alongside sealed-system tooling for the first.

Refrigerator not cooling →

Ballast Point — 33611

Bayshore Blvd · Interbay Blvd · MacDill Ave

Older housing stock with newer appliances dropped into it. The mismatch shows up as clearance problems and electrical that was never sized for what is plugged into it now. Storm damage to control boards is common down here — Florida leads the country in lightning and the main board is what pays for it.

Same-day and emergency →

Gandy / Sun Bay South — 33611 · 33616

Gandy Blvd · Dale Mabry Hwy · Manhattan Ave

Mixed and busy. Rentals, townhomes and family houses side by side, mostly builder-grade Whirlpool, Frigidaire and GE. High turnover means appliances that have had several owners and no maintenance history, so we diagnose from the machine rather than from what anyone was told.

Dryer repair →

Port Tampa — 33616

West Shore Blvd · Interbay Blvd

The far end of the peninsula, next to MacDill. A lot of military families, a lot of moving in and out, and a lot of appliances inherited with the house. There is no zone fee to get down here — it is the same price as Hyde Park, and we say that plainly because plenty of companies do not come this far.

Dishwasher repair →

Wherever you are down here, we have likely worked a street or two away. Text a photo of the data plate inside the fresh-food compartment and we can often name the likely cause before we arrive.

Sub-Zero under-counter beverage and wine unit back at temperature after repair on Bayshore Blvd, South Tampa, FL 33606
Bayshore Blvd · 33606

Sub-Zero — under-counter beverage and wine unit

Back on temperature with the interior lit and the display reading, wooden shelves loaded. Under-counter units live in cabinetry with almost no breathing room, so nine times out of ten a warm one is a choked condenser rather than a failed sealed system.

Wolf professional gas range with red knobs and center griddle back in service after repair on MacDill Ave, South Tampa, FL 33611
MacDill Ave · 33611

Wolf — professional gas range

Red-knob Wolf with the griddle in the middle, back in service. On these the usual suspects are igniters and spark modules rather than anything structural, and the range is almost always worth repairing — replacing one means matching a cabinet opening and a gas run that were built around it.

GE slide-in induction range pulled out with the top cover removed and induction coil wiring exposed, Morrison Ave, South Tampa, FL 33629
Morrison Ave · 33629

GE — induction range, top off

Slide-in induction pulled from the counter with the top cover off and the coil wiring exposed. Induction is a different animal from a radiant cooktop: the fault is usually a coil, a board or a temperature sensor, and it has to be traced rather than guessed at.

GE washer with the top panel open, replacement control board in its box beside the old board, S MacDill Ave, South Tampa, FL 33629
S MacDill Ave · 33629

GE — washer control board

Top panel open, the replacement GE board still in its box and the old one laid out beside it. We test before we replace — boards are expensive and often innocent, and a washer that will not start is more often a lid switch or a drain fault than electronics.

How we diagnose →
WHAT WE REPAIR

Every major appliance in the house

Seven machines, one truck, one diagnostic. Pick the type of appliance giving you trouble and you get the honest version: what usually fails, what it means down here, and whether it is worth repairing at all. We service all the major brands you are likely to own — Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, GE and GE Monogram, Miele, Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Frigidaire, Samsung and LG.

Tampa kitchen interior with an under-counter refrigerator built into the cabinetry

Refrigerator

Not cooling · ice maker · leaks · built-ins

The call we take most often in 33606 and 33629, and the one we schedule first — a warm refrigerator has a four-hour clock on the food inside it. Cold freezer with a warm fridge side is airflow or defrost, not the compressor everyone fears. On the built-ins that fill Hyde Park and Beach Park, the first thing we check is the condenser: a coil packed with dust and pet hair is the single most common reason a good unit slowly gives up.

Range, oven & cooktop

Will not heat · burner will not light · induction faults

Heavier work here than anywhere else we cover, because Palma Ceia and Beach Park are full of Wolf, Thermador and Monogram ranges set into cabinetry. Igniters and spark modules on gas, coils and boards on induction, door glass and hinges on wall ovens. Almost all of it is worth repairing — replacing a built-in range is a cabinetry project, not a shopping trip.

Washer

Will not drain · will not spin · leaking · noisy

Drain pumps and lid switches lead the list, and hard water is why the pumps go: Tampa Bay draws from the limestone Floridan Aquifer and scale builds on impellers and valve screens faster than the manufacturer planned for. Front-loaders add door gaskets that mold in a humid laundry room. A washing machine that will not drain is usually the cheapest repair on this list, and we carry pumps and gaskets for GE, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, LG and Samsung on the truck.

Full details on this repair →

Dryer

Runs but no heat · takes three cycles · will not start

A dryer that tumbles but never gets hot is a thermal fuse or a heating element on electric, an igniter on gas — both same-visit repairs. But a fuse that blew once will blow again if nobody looks at the vent, and in the older Hyde Park and Ballast Point houses the vent run is long, sometimes crushed behind the machine, occasionally still the original foil. We check the run, not just the part.

Dishwasher

Not draining · not cleaning · leaking

Not draining is nearly always a clogged filter, a blocked hose or a food-jammed pump — cheap to fix and easy to misdiagnose as a dead motor. Not cleaning is more often a spray arm or inlet valve, and hard water is again the culprit: scale narrows the spray-arm holes until the top rack stops getting water. Bosch, Miele, KitchenAid, Thermador and Whirlpool all handled.

Wine & beverage storage

Warm zone · condensation · noisy · under-counter

Common enough in South Tampa to be its own category. Dual-zone units with one zone drifting, under-counter beverage centers choked for airflow in tight cabinetry, thermoelectric units that were never going to cope with a Florida garage. Most of these are integrated, which means replacement is joinery — repair almost always wins.

Full details on this repair →

Microwave

No heat · door latch · over-the-range units

Over-the-range microwaves are the ones worth repairing, because replacing one means matching a cabinet cutout and a ventilation path that were sized when the kitchen was built. Door latch switches, magnetrons and control boards are the usual failures. A countertop unit is usually cheaper to replace than repair, and we will tell you that rather than sell you a repair.

Refrigeration, in detail

South Tampa runs more built-in and premium refrigeration per block than anywhere else we cover, so these refrigeration repair services each have a page of their own.

Refrigerator not cooling

Freezer cold but fridge warm, both warm, constant cycling — the symptoms overlap and a guess gets expensive, so we confirm the failure before recommending a part. Start with our refrigerator repair page.

Sub-Zero and premium built-ins

Sealed-system diagnostics, OEM parts, respect for the cabinetry, 12-month parts and labor warranty. See Sub-Zero and built-in repair.

Wine coolers and beverage centers

From Sub-Zero wine columns to under-counter U-Line and Marvel units. We take more wine and beverage calls in the 33606 and 33629 kitchens than anywhere else on our route. See wine cooler repair.

Ice makers

Frozen fill tubes, jammed bins, slush instead of cubes. Most ice maker failures don't require a new refrigerator. See ice maker repair.

Freezers

Built-in freezer drawers and Sub-Zero freezer columns fail on their own schedule down here, and the garage chest freezer behind the bungalow quits quietly until the ice cream tells you. See freezer repair.

Emergencies

Food warming right now? Call before 2 PM and we prioritize urgent refrigeration calls across South Tampa — common parts ride on the truck, so a diagnostic often becomes a same-day repair. More on emergency refrigerator repair.

Light commercial

The cafés and small kitchens along Howard Avenue and up through SoHo run glass-door merchandisers, under-counter units, ice machines and prep tables — True, Turbo Air, Traulsen, Beverage-Air and Hoshizaki among them — and we service them with the same no-fix-no-pay promise at the $129 commercial visit rate. See commercial refrigeration repair.

Beyond refrigeration: washers, dryers, ovens, ranges and microwaves when the repair makes sense. If a unit is too old or the parts are discontinued, we say so before you spend money you should not.

BUILT FOR FLORIDA

The 7-Point Florida Perfect Fridge Inspection, South Tampa edition

Every diagnostic includes a 7-point inspection built around what Florida actually does to refrigeration — and in South Tampa, each point earns its keep in a specific way.

1

Humidity impact assessment

Gaskets, seals, condensation patterns. On a Miele or Bosch integrated unit, gasket integrity is the whole ballgame; on a French-door Samsung, this is where the ice-room moisture path gets caught before it freezes the mechanism again.

2

Corrosion inspection

Non-negotiable within blocks of the bay. Connectors, terminals, and fan bearings on Bayshore and Ballast Point show salt damage years before inland units do — and outdoor kitchen refrigerators on Sunset Park lanais get the same scrutiny.

3

Sealed-system diagnostics

Compressor, condenser, evaporator. On a Sub-Zero or Thermador column this is the heart of the visit — sealed-system work is where EPA certification and factory-level knowledge stop being credentials and start being the repair.

4

Electrical stress test

Surge damage indicators on the board, outlet checked under load. The 1920s bungalow belt has beautiful houses and tired circuits, and sometimes the fridge is the victim, not the problem.

5

Control board inspection

Corrosion, capacitors, harness connections. Premium built-ins and modern inverter units alike live or die by these boards, and when a manufacturer says a board is discontinued, we can often have it repaired and restored instead of scrapping the refrigerator.

6

Performance verification

Real temperatures in every compartment, cycling times, defrost behavior — on a wine column, that means zone-by-zone; on a drawer unit, drawer by drawer.

7

Florida longevity plan

A written maintenance schedule matched to your home, your equipment, and how close you live to salt water — what's fine, what needs attention soon, what should be fixed now.

The inspection isn't an upsell. It's how we make sure the repair you approve is the repair you actually need.

EXPERT TAKE

Why this work takes a specialist — and why we're staying

A well-built unit deserves better than a landfill.

South Tampa isn't a typical repair market. On our own route it produces more built-in work than anywhere else we cover, more premium brands, more complex installs, and homeowners who expect a clear answer instead of a shrug. Refrigerators here have become computers that happen to get cold — inverter compressors, multi-zone controls, boards that manufacturers discontinue after a few years — and the premium brands keep moving toward proprietary parts and specialist-only service. That's exactly the work we've built this business around. We're not a franchise passing through; we intend to be South Tampa's refrigeration people for the next decade and beyond. We still bring 20-year-old Sub-Zeros and 15-year-old GE Profiles back to another decade of service, because a well-built unit deserves better than a landfill.

START TO FINISH

How a South Tampa appliance repair service call goes

1

Call, text, or book online — you'll reach someone who actually fixes refrigerators and can often triage over the phone. Tell us the brand, the symptom, and your neighborhood.

2

We schedule a two-hour arrival window and text when we're 15 minutes out.

3

On-site diagnostic — $69, applied 100% to the repair you approve, with a written estimate before anything is touched.

4

You decide. We explain what failed, why, what it costs, and whether repair beats replacement. Decline a repair we could do, and you pay only the $69. If the unit can't be reasonably repaired, you pay nothing.

5

We repair with OEM parts whenever available — often same-day from truck stock — then verify temperatures, airflow, and cycling before we leave.

6

Your written warranty: 90 days labor on standard repairs, 12 months parts and labor on premium built-in refrigeration, plus 30 days of free text support for photos and "is this normal?" questions.

HONEST PRICING

What appliance repair costs in South Tampa

$69
DIAGNOSTIC
APPLIED TO REPAIR

Every repair in South Tampa is quoted after the diagnostic — never before. Sub-Zero and premium built-in repairs get their own written estimate on-site, with compressor and sealed-system work quoted after pressure and voltage testing. Preventive maintenance is quoted on the estimate, and it regularly catches the big problem while it's still a small one. Parts are always listed separately from labor — no all-in mystery numbers, no shop fees.

THE TWO VISIT RATES

$69 for a residential appliance. $129 for commercial equipment — the cafés and small kitchens along Howard Ave and through SoHo. Either way the diagnostic comes off the repair when you approve it, and if the unit cannot reasonably be repaired you pay nothing at all.

THE WARRANTY, EXACTLY

90 days on labor for a standard repair — that is the great majority of what we do. 12 months on parts and labor for premium built-in refrigeration: Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, GE Monogram, Miele and Bertazzoni. We would rather write the smaller number here than have you find it out later.

Age 65 or older? 10% off your repair. Three or more kids at home? Same — 10% off. You always take the discount that is greatest for you.

What about the average cost of appliance repair in Tampa?

It is the first question almost everyone asks, and the honest answer is that an average will not help you. The same symptom on two refrigerators can be a small part or a sealed-system job, and appliance repair companies that quote a range down the phone are guessing in order to win the booking. Here is what we can tell you before we arrive: the visit is $69 residential or $129 commercial, that amount comes off the repair, parts and labor are itemized separately, and you see the number in writing before anything is opened. If the arithmetic says a new unit makes more sense than repairing your appliance, we say so on the spot and you still pay only the diagnostic.

The other thing that moves the number is whether the job is done with the proper tools. Sealed-system work needs gauges, a recovery machine and EPA certification, and guessing at it writes off a repairable refrigerator. Doing it properly is what buys the long-term reliability you paid for when you chose the equipment in the first place.

PROOF, NOT PROMISES

Reviews from South Tampa homeowners

We do not publish invented star ratings. What people say about our South Tampa appliance repair work is on our Google Business Profile and our BBB (Better Business Bureau) profile — real names, real neighborhoods, responses from the owner. The pattern you'll find is consistent: premium refrigerators other companies wouldn't touch, diagnosed carefully and repaired right, usually the same or next day. We'd rather you read those accounts yourself than take our word for it.

FOR LANDLORDS

Landlords and property managers

When a tenant's refrigerator fails in a South Tampa rental, you need resolution and records, not excuses. Photo documentation on every invoice, written diagnostics, direct tenant coordination, and master account billing for portfolios. We already work across multiple units for management companies down here, from Hyde Park duplexes to the Gandy and Port Tampa rentals. QUICK ANSWERS

South Tampa appliance repair questions, answered honestly

Do you repair Sub-Zero refrigerators in South Tampa?

Yes — it's a core specialty, from the BI-series columns and side-by-sides to the legacy 600-series and 400-series undercounter units. Sealed-system certified, OEM parts, 12-month parts and labor warranty.

My freezer is cold but the fridge is warm. Is the compressor dead?

Almost never. Cold air is made in the freezer and circulated forward; when frost, a failed evaporator fan, or a stuck damper blocks that path, the freezer stays cold while the fridge warms. The diagnostic confirms which one before we touch a part.

Can you fix a Samsung ice maker that keeps freezing over?

Yes — it's one of our most common South Tampa calls, especially on the RF28 family. The lasting fix addresses the moisture path and defrost components, not a one-time thaw that returns in three weeks.

My LG is clicking and running warm. Is that the compressor problem from the lawsuits?

Possibly — the linear compressor pattern is well documented. But the clicking is often a failed start relay, a much smaller repair, and many LG compressors are still under extended parts warranty, which we help you verify before recommending paid work. See LG compressor repair.

How fast can you get here?

Call before 2 PM and it's same-day in most of South Tampa. After 2 PM, you get a next-day appointment plus your choice of bonus: $30 off the repair or a free surge protector installed with it. We answer Monday through Saturday.

Do you repair built-ins from other premium brands?

Yes — Viking, Thermador, GE Monogram, Miele, Bosch, Dacor, Bertazzoni, Liebherr, and Fisher & Paykel, each diagnosed with its own engineering in mind.

What if my refrigerator can't be fixed?

You pay nothing — no labor, no parts, no service call charge, no trip fee. We'll also tell you what's worth buying next, because we see which brands come back on the truck.

Do you charge more for Davis Islands or the gated streets?

No. No zone fees anywhere in South Tampa — island, bayfront, or bungalow, same price.

What warranty comes with the repair?

90 days labor on a standard repair — that covers the great majority of what we do. 12 months parts and labor applies only to premium built-in refrigeration: Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, GE Monogram, Miele and Bertazzoni. If the part we serviced fails inside the window, we come back at no charge — no second diagnostic fee, no "that's a different problem."

Which ZIP codes count as South Tampa?

The ones we run every week: 33606 for Hyde Park, SoHo and Davis Islands; 33609 for Beach Park; 33611 for Bayshore Beautiful, Ballast Point and the Gandy corridor; 33616 for Port Tampa and Sun Bay South; 33629 for Palma Ceia and Virginia Park. South Tampa is everything south of Kennedy Boulevard down the Interbay Peninsula to MacDill, and the price is the same across all of it.

Do you repair Thermador, Monogram, Miele and other premium built-ins?

Yes. Thermador Freedom columns and wall ovens, GE Monogram multi-zone refrigeration, Miele integrated units, plus Viking, Bosch, Dacor, Bertazzoni, Liebherr and Fisher and Paykel. These live inside cabinetry, so we diagnose the installation alongside the appliance — ventilation clearance decides half of what goes wrong with them. Premium built-in refrigeration work carries the 12-month parts and labor warranty.

Can worn door seals really warm up a refrigerator?

They can, and in Florida they do it faster. A gasket that no longer closes lets humid room air into the cabinet all day: the unit runs longer, frost builds on the evaporator, and the compartment still drifts warm. On a Miele or Bosch integrated unit, door seals are the first thing we check. Replacing a seal is one of the cheapest repairs there is — the expensive part is ignoring it for two summers.

Is an over-the-range microwave worth repairing?

Usually yes, because replacing one means matching a cabinet cutout and a ventilation path that were sized when the kitchen was built. Door latch switches, magnetrons and control boards are the common failures, and all three are repairs. A countertop microwave is the opposite — cheaper to replace than to fix, and we tell you that instead of selling you a repair.

What does a repair cost in South Tampa?

The visit is $69 for a residential appliance and $129 for commercial equipment, and that amount comes straight off the repair when you approve it. The repair itself is quoted in writing on site, after the diagnostic, with parts listed separately from labor. We do not quote a repair price over the phone, because a number given before anyone has opened the machine is a guess.

Do you work on washers, dryers and dishwashers, or only refrigeration?

All of it. Refrigeration is the specialty, but the same truck handles every other home appliance — washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens and microwaves — and in Virginia Park or along Gandy Blvd that is most of what we do. One visit can cover two machines, and you pay one diagnostic.

My Sub-Zero is twenty years old. Is it still worth repairing?

Often, yes. A Sub-Zero built in the 2000s was engineered to be serviced, parts are still available for most of them, and a repair is a fraction of what a replacement column plus the cabinetry work costs. You get the honest arithmetic on site: what failed, what it costs to fix, and what is likely to go next. When the sealed system is finished on a unit that old, we say so.

Does Tampa water wear appliances out faster?

Hard water is a real factor here — the regional supply draws on the limestone Floridan Aquifer, and scale collects on washer pump impellers, valve screens, dishwasher spray-arm holes and ice maker fill valves. It does not break a good machine on its own, but it shortens the life of the cheap parts, which is why a dishwasher that stopped cleaning the top rack is far more often scale than a dead motor.
