A Sub-Zero clear-ice machine freezes water in thin layers so the cube comes out transparent, which means it runs a harvest cycle, a water pump and a drain the way a commercial machine does — not the way a freezer ice tray does. When it stops, the usual suspects are scale in the water circuit, a failed water pump, a drain line grown over, a fouled condenser in a cabinet with almost no airflow, or the cutter grid on outdoor models.
